GIVE
as an act of worship
In arguably the most familiar verse in the Bible (John 3:16), we are reminded that God’s love for us is displayed vividly in that “He gave His only Son” for us. Our God is truly a gracious God, a God who gives sacrificially and generously for our good out of His own initiative and kindness. So, whenever we think about giving, our minds ought to be drawn first to our gracious God who loves us and has poured out His blessings on us. With this in mind, our giving to the local church is simply our response of gratitude to God for the grace He’s shown us in Christ. Giving sacrificially and cheerfully is a way of expressing back to God our love for Him, our longing for His gospel to be proclaimed, and our trust in Him to keep providing all we need. Giving is an act of worship.
